LAUNCH OF THE ” ODDIENCE 2030 ” PROJECT IN BORDEAUX: A EUROPEAN PARTNERSHIP FOR AN EDUCATIONAL AND CIVIC INITIATIVE.

Press release

From 13 to 17 November 2023, Bel Orme High School will be welcoming its European partners, actors in education and NGOs to kick off ODDience 2030. This 3-year project, funded by Erasmus+ France, aims to develop 21st-century skills among secondary school students around the unifying theme of sustainable development.

A project to make high school students’ voices heard

By adopting the 2030 Agenda, the UN member states have defined 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs). From 13 November, the ODDience 2030 project will be launched, in which stakeholders from schools, NGOs and training bodies (Finland, France, India, Portugal and Romania) are joining forces to help mobilise secondary school students around these goals. This partnership will enable students to make their voices heard in their schools, at a local level, but also in Brussels and at the COP Climate 2026.

Teaching to train enlightened European citizens

Cooperating, being creative and developing critical thinking are all part of the skills needed to meet the challenges of the future. Although integrated into school curricula, these cross-disciplinary skills or “soft skills” are neglected in favour of traditional knowledge or know-how. That’s why teachers from the partner schools will be working with training organisations to design and test courses that will enable them to estimate the acquisition of these skills. Project-based learning will be at the heart of the scheme, to help pupils grasp complex problems.

In this way, ODDience 2030 represents a fantastic opportunity for secondary school students to become European and global citizens, committed to building a sustainable future.
